Every day citizens and dozens of firefighters, policemen, emergency medical technicians, and other service personnel in this area suit up and go to work, volunteering for tasks that often place them in immediate and sudden danger.  For most, the ability to serve and protect their friends, neighbors, and even strangers is motivation enough to keep them working through the long nights and tense moments that their jobs necessitate.  They provide Hoosiers with services we take for granted, all too often sacrificing their health and personal well-being in the service of others.  Help us say thank you to those who have given so much. 

Selfless acts of heroism all too seldom receive the recognition they deserve.  The Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross will break this trend with our 7^th Annual Heroes of the Heartland Celebration.  The 2009 “Heroes of the Heartland” celebration will be held on March 19^th, 2009 at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie.
